After the acquisition of her successful technology company, Mosaic, Ms Whittaker turned her attention to the field of health care. Several years earier she had suddenly lost a 50 year old fiancé to heart disease. The documentary Forks Over Knives inspired her to reach out to a leading cancer researcher in the film, T Colin Campbell, and she partnered with him on a 10-day project on diet change with 45 people, with profound life changing results. Ms Whittaker opened the educational GreenFare Organic Café in November of 2015 with the purpose of delivering a 21-day program from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) called 21 Day Kickstart, which includes classes, community, and 21 days of organic, whole plant food. Over 1000 people, including three dozen medical professionals and senior leaders from the Intelligence Community have completed this program with dramatic results, typically reversing hypertension, dropping cholesterol, and weight loss. Multiple doctors now refer patients to GreenFare to improve sleep, energy, and the reduction of pain and/or medication through this program. Ms Whittaker is a Food For Life Instructor with PCRM, certified in plant-based nutrition from Cornell, and a graduate of the McDougall Wellness program. In July of 2019, she founded a non-profit, GreenFare Health and Wellness, a 501(c)(3), to provide an integrated and holistic health care practice for nutrition and piloted the first successful program on Reversing Diabetes in an African American population with 25 participants. Ms Whittaker is one of the Executive Producers of the most widely viewed documentary in the world, The Game Changers with Arnold Schwarzenegger and other athletes who espouse the benefits of plant-based nutrition. She Co-Produced and starred in Diet Fiction and is an Executive Producer of an upcoming documentary on diabetes. She has been featured numerous times in the Washington Post, and serves on numerous Boards in the health, environment, animal welfare arenas.
