Avoid taking alcohol with medicines such as
Metronidazole (flagyl)
Tinidazole
Ketoconazole
Propranolol
Paracetamol and ibuprofen
Anti anxiety medications or anti-epileptic medications such as diazepam,clonazepam,lorazepam,buspirone.
Diabetic medications such as metformin
As u can experience diasulfriam-like reactions such as:facial flushing,nauseas and vomiting,shock,swelling of hands and feet’s, severe reactions like hypotension,angioedema,liver damage,or even death in some cases.
If you are taking metronidazole then you should not take alcohol for two-three days(2-3days)after taking the last tablet.
Basically there should be a minimum of 12 hours to which the toxic compounds of alcohol can get flushed out of our body.
And if you take tinidazole, then you shouldn’t take alcohol for 72 hours.
Taking alcohol which taking propranolol is also very dangers as alcohol reduces blood pressure, and propranolol is a medicine used in reducing blood pressure so taking both of them together will cause a sudden drop in blood pressure.
There are thousands of this medicines that interact with alcohol and can be harmful for the body, also many medicines will not be absorbed in the body when taken with alcohol and hence we will not get the required relief when taking the medicine.
So if you wish to drink alcohol when been on medicine then consult your doctor or pharmacist.
